Rowan is practicing making a grand entrance. Next time we practice, I'll have to dress her in a ball gown and tiara.

Here's our little man.

Harvey examines his mom.

Rowan thinks that poking the dog with a stick will get him to play with her.

Rowan is learning how to fake a smile for the camera. Her timing is getting better.

Late September 2007

Rowan is learning how to make Jell-O.

Here is the family watching a Packers game on Sunday.

Rowan loves to spend time with Harvey on the floor.

Harvey also doesn't mind the tummy time.

Here's our little "ladies man" at one month.

Poor guy is already starting to go bald on top.

Grandma helps Rowan with the Jell-O. Don't know how this pic got out of order.

Patten Lake/U.P. Vacation 2007

Rowan and Andy are hunting for agates near the shore of Lake Superior.

Rowan had a little too much fun in the sand. She got back in the car wearing only a diaper.

Janea pushing Rowan on a swing in Houghton, MI.

Rowan was quite hesitant about the slide. She chickened out.

Vacations can be exhausting, but Elmo's make good pillows.

Andy, Rowan and Grandma W. are enjoying time on the couch at the cabin.

As usual, Maverick spent many hours cuddled on his favorite recliner.

One afternoon, Rowan just zonked out. She took her nap on the couch.

Rowan was very good at helping Grandma and Janea shuck the corn.

Rowan and Andy....
two happy hikers out at the falls.

Mid July 2007

Here we are having fun watching TV and eating pretzels.

Andy and I both think that Rowan looks a lot like Grandpa Dennis in this photo. I think it has something to do with her eyes?

Fourth of July 2007

Fourth of July Fun!

Rowan holds tight to Grandma A during the waterski show in Janesville. Rowan actually did quite well the entire time we were there. However, she did kick another spectator in the back a few times. He didn't seem to care very much.

Rowan and dad had some fun in the blow up pool in our back yard. Here Rowan is discovering that if you squeeze the duck hard enough, it will shoot water at your face. She found it fun until she shot herself in the eye (don't worry - no damage done, no crying).

This is when she first stepped into the pool. Since it was in the shade, the water was fairly chilly. She played in the pool for a good 45 minutes though.

Birth Art
At the end of our Birthing From Within classes, we were asked to make a picture that represented my interpretation of labor and birth.
I chose to make a heart because a birth is an experience created out of love. Labor and birth isn't always perfect (whatever we think perfect is) and it can be downright messy. The black smudges indicate that, during this experience, there will be times of doubt and fear.
Next to the heart is my handprint. This means that no matter what happens with my next birthing experience, I will take ownership of that experience. It will become a part of me.

Now that I put my shoes on, I'm ready to go outside!
