Fourth of July 2007

Fourth of July Fun!
Rowan holds tight to Grandma A during the waterski show in Janesville. Rowan actually did quite well the entire time we were there. However, she did kick another spectator in the back a few times. He didn't seem to care very much.

Rowan and dad had some fun in the blow up pool in our back yard. Here Rowan is discovering that if you squeeze the duck hard enough, it will shoot water at your face. She found it fun until she shot herself in the eye (don't worry - no damage done, no crying).

This is when she first stepped into the pool. Since it was in the shade, the water was fairly chilly. She played in the pool for a good 45 minutes though.

Birth Art
At the end of our Birthing From Within classes, we were asked to make a picture that represented my interpretation of labor and birth.
I chose to make a heart because a birth is an experience created out of love. Labor and birth isn't always perfect (whatever we think perfect is) and it can be downright messy. The black smudges indicate that, during this experience, there will be times of doubt and fear.
Next to the heart is my handprint. This means that no matter what happens with my next birthing experience, I will take ownership of that experience. It will become a part of me.

Ultrasound May 4 2007

Ultrasound went well. Baby looks healthy and normal. Placenta appears to be attached in the back of the uterus...well away from previous cesarean scar tissue.

Swimsuit Cover

This is a swimsuit cover that I made today for Rowan. It took me about one hour to sew it. The material is Solarveil - a special material specifically made for blocking out harmful UV rays. It is very breathable for hot days. I decided to do ribbon tie closures on this cover. I think that it would be better to do button or snap closure on future covers. My toddler seems to enjoy pulling on the ribbons - go figure!
p.s. Please ignore the Spaghettio stain on her face!
